I was asked by a friend who teaches languages whether there were any HyperCard stacks which were more than vocabulary tests. The stacks I found seemed to be just that, so here is one which did what he wanted.
The idea is that students are confronted by sets of words which could make up a sentence, but in a random order. They have to move the words onto lines in the right order. If they get it right they get a congratulatory message. If they get it wrong they are told so and the words return to their original places. If they get it wrong more than three times it is suggested that they move on.
You can add new sentences to a stack which you created previously.
Because the teacher creates the original sentences this stack, which creates the test stacks, can work for any language. Under current language theory, as I understand it, there should be no reminder of English for students learning the language. All the printed messages can therefore be rendered in the language of choice. The only thing which I could not do under HyperCard 2.0 is to enable the rejigging of the sounds to the new language. However I have included in here the excellent Sound Mover piece of shareware. If you use this, you must, of course pay for it seperately. Using this, and following the instructions in the stack you can change the sounds, I'd be the first to admit that Mr Perot can get pretty boring.
